ROBERTSON’S BIG DAY HELPS BUCS EDGE ASTROS, 5-4
Pirate first baseman, Bob Robertson, had himself a day. He hit a three run in the top of the sixth, to pull the Pirates within a run; then clubbed a two run blast in the eighth, putting them ahead to stay.
Robbie’s first homer came off Astros starter, Don Wilson, his second, off losing pitcher, Jim Ray.
It was a tough start for Steve Blass, who allowed three runs in five innings, before giving way to Jim Nelson. The Pirate reliever earned his first win of the season and Dave Giusti collected another save. WP-Jim Nelson(1-3). LP-Jim Ray. SV-Dave Giusti. HR-Bob Robertson 2(29), Bob Watson.
The final game of the series has Bob Johnson facing Wade Blasingame.
