A shoo in for National League, Pitcher of the Year; Philadelphia’s Satchel Paige was amazing yet again, as he hurled his third consecutive shutout, defeating the Washington Senators, 1-0, in a pitcher’s duel with Ken Chase.
Each starter allowed but five hits. A solo home run by league leader, Josh Gibson, in the top of the seventh, cost Chase the game.
