TIGERS TAKE FIRST GAME OF TWINS SERIES, 4-1
Behind a seven inning effort from starter Dan Petry(14-8), the Detroit Tigers defeated the Minnesota Twins, 4-1. It was the fourth straight win for the Motor City nine, however, division leader Baltimore has won six in a row, so no ground was gained.
Lou Whitaker doubled and tripled. Enos Cabell had two rbi singles and Tom Brookens scored twice. The series concludes today.
