TIGERS CAN’T GAIN GROUND DESPITE FIFTH STRAIGHT WIN

Detroit edged the Twins, 2-1, for their fourth win in a row, however, Baltimore won its seventh straight, to keep the Tigers four back.

Milt Wilcox(9-12) won on the hill, despite five walks. Free passes also hurt the Twins as their starter, Ken Schrom issued 3 walks in his final inning, including the eventual winning run. Aurelio Lopez earned the save.

The Tigers welcome the Texas Rangers for a short two game set.
