1970 Great Eight League

Team Breakdowns Los Angeles Dodgers

24W 32L .429Pct Tied for fifth place

It was one step forward, two steps back for the Dodgers, who like the Reds, finished with the exact same record. Amazingly, both teams had the same record (12-16) at home as on the road.

No Dodger regular had a slugging pct of .500 or better. Willie Davis was closest at .483. Davis led the team in triples (7) and stolen bases (6). Wes Parker led the team in homeruns (6) and doubles (19) anhits (59). The team had two players in double figures in errors, third baseman, Billy Grabarkewitz and Maury Wills, both with ten.

Los Angeles had a good bullpen. Pete Mikkleson had a 1.11 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP along with 6 saves. Jose Pena (4-1, 2.36 ERA, 0.99 ERA) was also very solid. The four starters were terrible. None had a winning record. Claude Osteen (2-4, 3.28 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) was the best of a poor rotation. He also had the only shutout. Don Sutton struck out 80, but gave up 17 homeruns, the most in the league.
