1956 Great Eight League
This will be another in my series of 56 game seasons of the eight best teams by regular season winning percentage of a particular season. In this case, it’s 1956. The teams are Boston, Brooklyn, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee and New York.
Same format as before. Whatever team is in first place after 56 games is champion. Each team will have a set group of eight regulars, who will see the majority of action. It will be four man pitching rotations, based on total starts in descending order. One change I made is that relievers must face three batters, or complete the half inning, as in the modern game. Each team will have one spot start during the season, in which a pitcher not in the rotation will start a game. No pinch hitting for position players until the seventh inning, unless for injury. Injuries are for rest of that game only. Pitchers may be pinch hit for at any point. Relievers cannot pitch in three consecutive games.
