Team Breakdowns New York Yankees

29W 27L .518Pct. Tied for Third Place

Basically, a carbon copy of Minnesota as far as the overall team. Honestly, it was amazing that the Yankees finished as high in the standings as they did. They had a lukewarm offense with almost miniscule power. Bobby Murcer and Roy White led the team in homers with 7 each. Danny Cater had a .335 average, but White was their best offensive player overall, slashing, (.276/.377/.457).

Pitching was led by Fritz Peterson (5-3, 1.99 ERA, 1.11 WHIP). Also having a good year on the mound was Steve Kline (6-3, 2.95 ERA, 1.15 WHIP). The Yankees boasted perhaps baseball’s best closer in Jack Aker. He had 8 saves and a record of (3-1, 1.27 ERA, 0.81 WHIP).
